TV Discovery

Once you switch on your TV, its name shall appear in Mirror Screen on Smart TV "Available-TVs" section.
Most TVs made roughly since 2013 are compatible (DLNA with H.264 MPEG-TS is needed).

If you do not see your TV in that list, double check that:
A few hints on how to do that follow...
How to find the IP address of the TV
We prepared procedures for 2 most common TV brands - Samsung & LG. The vast majority of other TV manufacturers have very similar approach - please consult corresponding user TV guide.
First of all, if you have a new TV and/or you haven't set up the network yet (especially if you use Wi-Fi connection, you need to explicitly choose the network and enter your password), do that first. Consult your TV manual on how to do that.

Here are the links to Samsung and LG webs where your can download the electronic version of the manual.
You can find the IP address in the TV settings, menu Network or similar (depending on the model, you need to find the right item).

It shall look somehow like this for Samsung:

and similarly to this for LG:

How to find Mac IP address
Open Apple System menu in the left upper corner and select System Preferences:

Select Network:

Make sure that Wi-Fi is selected and you can get Mac IP in the upper right area:

Alternatively, you can click Advanced and there, in the tab TCP/IP, is also your Mac IP address:

Being in the same subnet...
Though simplified, for majority of home Wi-Fi switches, you can verify that your TV is in the same subnet as your Mac by comparing first three digits of your TV IP address and Mac IP address - they shall be equal and only their last number shall differ.

For instance, in the images above:

You can see that "192.168.2" is for all three IP addresses equal.

The last number must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 254.
Checking Mac firewall...
Go to the System Preferences (see above) and select "Security and Privacy":

If your firewall is off, skip to the next hint (there is nothing to check). Otherwise, click on the lock symbol, enter your password and once unlocked (as depicted in the picture), click "Firewall Options".

Make sure that "Block all incoming connections" is *NOT* selected and that Mirror Screen on Smart TV app is in the list and has allowed incoming connections. It shall be there because OS automatically added it there once you downloaded it from the App Store and run for the first time. If it is not there however, add it by clicking plus sign, looking up the app in the list that appears and finally selecting it & clicking OK button.

Still not there...
If nothing above helped, you can try to "ping" the TV.

That means that your computer will send a kind of network "Hello" and TV, if correctly configured, shall respond. If you see responses and Mirror Screen on Smart TV does not detect the TV there is something really strange. If not, there must an interfering element in the network, e.g. a traffic blocking element.. - analyzing the difference is the purpose of such test.

Open Terminal application (e.g. by opening Spotlight search by CMD + SPACE keys and typing word "Terminal").

A new window will appear with a cursor in it. Type in this: "ping 192.168.2.218" where you need to replace 192.168.2.218 with your TV IP address (see above) and then hit enter.

If you see responses like these:

...it means that the TV is correctly connected and only some ports can be blocked. Unless you are a network professional, you can try to solve it only via Windows-style method: switch off the TV, shut down Mac and switch off the Wi-Fi switch. Once all of them are off, switch them on and try it again.

If you see however something like this:

...there will be most probably another problem in the network. You can try the above-mentioned restart of all components but it will most probably not help and you will have to ask someone to help you with the network setup.

You can close the terminal window at any time without causing any harm...
