Supported Standards
The app restreams web videos and MP3 non-live audio wherever allowed by web content provider.
It behaves similarly to Air Play but uses DLNA standard instead. Thus, no extra HW is needed.
|  | Supported media types |
- Web video streams that can be played in the iOS web browser
- Audio MP3 podcasts (with the exception of live streams)
|  | Supported containers |
- MP4
- HLS
- Combined audio/video streams
- Separated audio/video streams
- Video only streams
- fMP4 streams
- Live streams for all of the above-listed combinations
- Streams encrypted with AES-128 & AES-sample for all of the above-listed combinations
- MP3
|  | Non-supported types |
- Fair-play (FP) streams: FP is Apple proprietary encryption technology. As much as we can say, there are not many content providers streaming via web and using FP, maybe because of the fact that it is usable only for iOS (Chrome does not support it) but they exist (such as NPO1 in the NL).
- (Live) audio-only HLS streams & MP3 live streams (Apple web media player does support it but TV DLNA technology does not);
- Subtitles (DLNA technology does not support them);
|  | Permission to stream |
This app conforms to AirPlay approach with regard to video re-streaming. Content providers decide if they allow to re-direct their video content to TV. From our experience, the vast majority do not disable (or care about) it but there are such pages.
For details, see
Apple AirPlay Guide (section: "You can Opt Into or Out of AirPlay for Video")
Note that you can still mirror screen with browser in such case.
